    • The Basic Program

      • To develop a solid foundation and acquaint new students into the martial arts, Northeast Martial Arts has developed the Basic Program. The purpose of this course is to introduce the beginning student to Northeast Martial Arts and our staff of instructors, and to allow the student to experience the excitement and benefits of training in the martial arts.  The Basic Program includes a curriculum that develops focus, respect, self-discipline, goal setting, and self esteem while students learn basic self defense, kicking, blocking, stances, and hand techniques.  Classes are very high energy with positive reinforcement and individualized motivation.

    • Black Belt Training Course (BBTC)

      • Anybody has the potential to become a Black Belt in the Martial Arts. Black Belts are simply white belts who never gave up. By understanding and believing in that fact, any student, regardless of natural talent or ability, has the chance to attain something that most people would give anything for: success and self-worth. Being a Black Belt is a state of mind as much as it is being physically proficient in the Martial Arts. With that in mind, Northeast Martial Arts has developed our core martial arts program developed to get a student to their black belt, called the Black Belt Training Course.

        • The Philosophy…  Striving to attain a Black Belt means that a student is trying to create a lifestyle in which honor, respect, courtesy, and self-discipline are the foundations. As martial artists and instructors, we feel that it is our responsibility to help those individuals who are serious about bringing about this lifestyle in any way that we can. Therefore, honorable students who display enthusiasm and dedication in their training are qualified for the Black Belt Training Course.

        • The Program…     Students who accept admittance into the Black Belt Training Course receive many features and benefits which are not available to the general student population. As a BBTC member, students are offered a special BBTC uniform. This uniform, consisting of black pants and a white top adorned with the studio logo and kanji characters, sets the BBTC member aside as one of the elite students of the school and as one of honorable principles.  The Black Belt Training Course brings like minded people together to achieve their goals, so the whole group can be more successful.

        • The Goal…  The Black Belt Training Course cultivates the development of a higher quality student with a stronger and more disciplined attitude. By adhering to the Black Belt Principles of Honesty, Integrity, Courtesy, Humility, Perseverance and Peaceful Resolution, Black Belt Training Course Members gain increased intensity, focusing on strengths and improving on weaknesses.

    • Advanced Degree Program (ADP)

      • For members who want to make their martial arts training into a lifestyle, Northeast Martial Arts has developed the intense Advanced Degree Program. The ADP is for our most serious and dedicated students, with classes featuring the highest level of intensity and diversity. More stringent, traditional teaching methods are employed, strengthening depth of focus, attentiveness, and skill level.

        • The curriculum focuses on very eclectic cross-training of various styles and disciplines in order to create the most diverse and skilled students possible. Knife fighting, handling, and self-defense, Chinese Wushu, Grappling, Arnis, And Tai Chi are just a few of the many different styles that are covered in the Advanced Degree Program through a four (4) month rotating curriculum.

Students are offered a special ADP uniform, consisting of black pants and a blue top adorned with the studio logo and kanji characters. This special uniform sets the ADP student apart as one of the true artists of the studio — one that is interested in the most honorable principles and intense challenges.

Due to the intensity and diversity of the curriculum, advanced ranks (green belt and above) are able to work out at all ADP classes each week. For all ranks lower than green belt that wish to join the ADP, a seminar will be offered once per month covering the material during that session, giving the beginner and intermediate students the opportunity to challenge themselves further.

Four Phases of Training

It takes approximately 4 years to earn a Black Belt at Northeast Martial Arts. During that time a student’s training is broken into three levels or phases:

►   Orange through High Yellow:  This is the beginner phase which lasts approximately one (1) year. At this time the student is learning the core basics of their training. Stances, kicking, blocking, self defense, and basic body positioning are all the focus physically in their training. It is at this phase however, that their mental training is most important to us. We are teaching them focus, respect, self -discipline, and perseverance. It is these values that enable a student to accomplish their goal of Black Belt and any other goal they decide upon in life. At this level our focus is 80% mental.

►   Blue through High Purple:  This is the intermediate phase which lasts approximately one year and 4 months. Here the student’s focus and confidence are noticeably improved. More advanced techniques and complicated Kata are introduced into their curriculum. We really begin to challenge intensity in their training. It is here for many students that you really begin to see their training “come together”.   Now we can focus more on a ratio of 50% mental and 50% physical.

►   Green through High Brown:  This is the advanced phase of training which lasts approximately one                            year and 4 months. Mental training should be strongly in place now and physical capabilities become the focal point. Discipline is much stricter at this level and with over two years of training behind them they are very ready for the structure.

►   High Brown through Black:  Black Belt tests are held twice per year, once in the Spring and once in the Fall. Before testing, an eligible student goes into their candidacy period. This is in addition to their regular training. It focuses on a total review of all material, fitness levels, intensity towards their goal, and some soul searching by the student on their growth process thus far and their future goals.
